A Visit from the Parents

I love when our parents come in town. And I especially love it when they come together! Both sets of parents came into town last weekend and enjoyed the heat of South Texas. It cooled down a little while they were here and we took advantage of the sun and wonderful weather. Thanks for visiting us; we had a wonderful time!
We went to a couple different gardens and checked out some of the Missions.
We also ate lots of delicious barbecue, went to the temple, and spent some time sightseeing in Austin. If you are heading up to Austin, we definitely recommend the South Congress Cafe - so good! And the next time we have visitors we'll have to take more pictures :)

The Japanese Exchange Program

2 years ago Quin helped host a group of Japanese Dental Exchange Students. As a fourth-year dental student, he got to host another group last month. It was another busy and fun week full of partying, sightseeing, bowling, dinners, Dave and Busters, Six Flags, shopping, and some school. Quin will be going to Japan later this school year and he is definitely very excited!

Go Cougars!

So I am married to a huge college football fan. Quin seriously can't get enough of it. And even though he's not the biggest BYU fan, we decided that a trip to the BYU-Oklahoma game in the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium would be well worth it. And it definitely was. We had such a good time cheering for the Cougars and we also had fun shopping, sightseeing, and visiting friends (thanks for the fun times!). We didn't take a ton of pictures (typical), but here are a few from our trip...
In case you haven't heard, the screen in the stadium is HUGE. It is the largest HD screen in the world.
So we don't own any BYU gear besides sweatshirts. I guess our royal and baby blue would have to do.
I caught a picture Jon, Quin, and Aaron mid-celebration. What an exciting game!
We learned how to use a rope at the Ft. Worth Stockyards.

We stopped at a fun barbecue place on the way back to San Antonio.

Quin's pick for the National Championship this year:

The Florida Gators!

He's been right for the past few years, so go Florida!

Hair Dilemma

I am possibly the laziest person when it comes to hair. When I moved to San Antonio I didn’t even bring a brush (don’t worry, I did bring a comb). You may remember when I blogged about donating my hair. Since then, I’ve only gotten my hair cut ONCE. I tend to keep my hair long because it’s so easy. Most days I let my hair air dry. I usually have no problems leaving my apartment with wet hair. Most days I really do love my long straight hair. Other days though, I want cute, stylish, fun hair. Today is one of those days. When this happens I debate if I should chop my hair off, get layers or bangs, or just do something crazy. But here’s the problem - I'm not good at styling my hair and my hair doesn't like to hold a style. What’s a girl to do?

I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining; I'm just having a bad hair day.

Trip To Utah

We recently spent a week in Utah. It was so nice to relax, spend time with our families, and go camping.
We loved spending time with our nephews and niece. We've been missing them so much!

We did some 4-wheeling in the mountains. As you can tell by our apparel, it was actually cold up there! That is something we are not used to in Texas.

We enjoyed the Tooele, UT 4th of July parade. Quin and I have been together for five 4th of July holidays and this is the 1st parade we've attended together. Quintin was clearly excited for it to start.

Thanks to our wonderful families who made this trip so much fun!

Now it's back to school and work and the Texas HEAT.

Since the Last time I Blogged:

1. We celebrated our third anniversary! Time has just flown by. I've thought of some of my favorite/interesting things about us and our three years together:
- we've been to Maui three times
- we still don't own a television
- we own one car, an 1994 Oldsmobile named Stella
- we love to play soccer and football together
- we've caught lots and lots of fish
Happy Anniversary, Quin!

2. I went to the San Antonio Symphony preview concert at the Health Science Center. They put on a concert every year for students and employees and I've always missed it because we were out of town. Not this year! Now I just have decided which concert to attend this year. Maybe the opener with Gil Shaham?

3. Quin is working hard at the Brady Green Clinic for his Oral Surgery Selective. He starts his 4th year of dental school in two weeks!

4. I've been watching my favorite summer show, So You Think You Can Dance. It's been a little tricky without a television (see #1), but I've managed to watch most of the episodes. I LOVE SYTYCD, but there aren't any couples that I absolutely love love love this season (no Katee/Joshua). These dances however, are amazing:

5. I hope everyone enjoys
their SUMMER!

I'm Glad They Called You On A Mission: Part 2

My younger brother Kyle
has been called to the Switzerland Geneva Mission to teach the gospel to the people of Switzerland and France. My sister (currently serving a mission in Romania/Moldova) got him that Swiss shirt when she studied abroad in France. Apparently she knew something the rest of us did not :)
He'll be speaking French and I am so excited for him.
Congrats! We know you'll be an excellent missionary!

Weekend in Pittsburgh

Our friends, Matt and Kelly, got married in Pittsburgh, PA this past weekend. So we flew out there on Friday and had a great time seeing a lot of good friends, attending an incredible wedding, and doing a little bit of sightseeing.
We arrived on Friday night and ate dinner at Fuel & Fuddle and got ice cream at Dave and Andy's (so good!). From what I hear, these are Pittsburgh classics.
Matt lives in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh and attends the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. We stayed at his row house on this steep cobble stone street.
On Saturday we spent some time in downtown Pittsburgh. We went to the Andy Warhol Museum and decided that while Andy Warhol created some amazing stuff, he was also a pretty
weird guy.

We checked out the University of Pittsburgh. The building in this picture is named the Cathedral of Learning. It is the tallest educational building in the United States. I loved seeing all the interesting buildings on campus and Quin thought it was cool that the University of Pittsburgh has its on 7-Eleven.
We rode one of the inclines to get a view of the city from Mount Washington.

Matt and Kelly got married on the upper deck of a cruise ship. It was such a beautiful wedding. The weather was wonderful and the view of the city was incredible. After the ceremony, we had dinner and dessert below deck. There was also dancing and karaoke and we had a blast!
We had such a good time relaxing on the deck of the boat and watching the city go by. Pittsburgh is a really neat place!
Congrats Matt and Kelly!

Spring Break 2009

It's official: we are addicted. There is just something about Maui that keeps us coming back. But seriously, can you blame us?
We took a last minute trip to Maui for spring break. Quintin bought our plane tickets the Tuesday before spring break and five days later we were relaxing at my parents' beach side condo in Kihei. It was perfect. You can view more pictures HERE.
We drove out to Hana (a 50 mile drive with over 600 turns and over 45 one-way bridges) and checked out the black sand beach at Wainapanapa State Park. This is one of the few pictures of the two of us together.

We relaxed at the BEACH and snorkeled A LOT.
Hawaii is amazing. I want to go back.

March Madness!

When Quin and I were dating, I challenged him to March Madness bracket showdown. I was so excited when I won, only to find out later that he doesn't even like college basketball very much. What!? Well, I still complete a bracket and hopefully this month goes well for me! The games start tomorrow and I'm finally ready. Good luck to all of you college basketball fans out there!
